Myanmar: How two sides in a decades-long war are now working together for health

In 2012 after 60 years of conflict, the Myanmar government signed a ceasefire with Karenni rebel groups. The two sides are now working together for the first time, with IRC support. Their joint team is bringing medicine and health care to former war zones.

In Myanmar, nurses and medics who had been on opposing sides in one of the world's longest civil wars are now working shoulder to shoulder to bring health care to remote regions that until recently were combat zones. 

Their mission is symbolic of the extraordinary changes sweeping Myanmar, also known as Burma, long a pariah state isolated from the rest of the world.
