Refugee girls from Syria recently took part in an IRC project to make animated videos about issues that affect them. They gained knowledge about and shared their experiences with issues -- such as harassment and forced marriage -- too taboo to talk about elsewhere.

ZAATARI REFUGE CAMP, Jordan—The eight Syrian teenagers are excited—so enthusiastic that word has spread across Jordan’s sprawling Zaatari refugee camp, temporary home to 75,000 refugees. A steady stream of girls flows into the International Rescue Committee’s Women’s Center, where they clamor to join the IRC’s film workshop.
