On World Humanitarian Day (August 19), the IRC celebrates the humanitarian spirit and pays tribute to aid workers and volunteers who have helped the world’s most vulnerable people.
Every day, humanitarian workers take great risks to help millions of uprooted people caught up by conflict, facing danger at almost every corner when saving lives. According to the United Nations, there are 100 million people affected by natural disasters, conflict, hunger and disease.
Today, on World Humanitarian Day, the International Rescue Committee celebrates the humanitarian spirit. We pay tribute to the aid workers and volunteers who have helped the world’s most vulnerable people and remember the one’s who gave their lives while carrying out our mission.
