Since a political rivalry in South Sudan erupted into widespread violence, some 2 million people have been forced to flee their homes. "Without a political solution, humanitarians will have to continue applying a very expensive band-aid to address suffering and save lives," the IRC said in a Jun. 16 statement.
Since December 2013, when a political rivalry erupted into ethnic violence, thousands of people have been killed in South Sudan and some 2 million have been forced to flee their homes. The International Rescue Committee is providing urgently needed medical care, water and sanitation services, protection for vulnerable women and girls, and other assistance.
