The IRC's Peter Biro recently sat down with Mamadee Bayour--one of the few people in his Liberian village who contracted Ebola and survived. "If we take care, we will win this battle," Mamadee told him.
Peter Biro, a writer and photographer for the International Rescue Committee, recently visited Liberia, the country hit hardest by the Ebola outbreak. There he met an Ebola survivor in rural Lofa County who told him his story:
Nearby, in a straw and mud hut, I sit down with Mamadee Bayour—one of the few people in the village who contracted Ebola and survived.
"I treated my sick brother, but I didn't know what was wrong with him," he says. "He suddenly died and 10 days later I became sick."
