Amid fighting last week in Bentiu, South Sudan, two International Rescue Committee midwives working in a health clinic at the United Nations base stayed behind to care for two women in labor. After the women gave birth to two healthy babies, a boy and a girl, the South Sudanese midwives escorted the mothers and their newborns to safety in designated shelters inside the base.
