The IRC's Mike Young says the scale of need dwarfs the supply of aid: "As fighting rages, refugees seek safety in ever greater numbers, stressing already depleted resources and the goodwill of the countries hosting them."
"Aid is getting in, yet it is nowhere near enough. More than 6 million Syrians urgently need help inside their country. Well over 1.6 million have become refugees. The scale of need dwarfs supply. As fighting rages, refugees seek safety in ever greater numbers, stressing already depleted resources and the goodwill of the countries hosting them. As summer approaches, a public health disaster looms. This crisis is complex, gargantuan and fast-moving. The humanitarian aid community risks a great and grave breach of faith if we do not dramatically raise our game.
