The risk of Ebola reaching the Grand Gedeh and Maryland counties in Liberia remains high and imminent. The IRC's Dr. Abiy Mulugeta Abebe is leading the response.
Dr. Abiy Mulugeta Abebe opened an email containing another update on the spread of Ebola. Numbers remain in the single digits in his region, two counties in southeast Liberia, but each suspected case brings the crisis closer to home. “Every time I see the increasing numbers, I really feel disheartened,” he admits. “I really start to worry and think, ‘It’s going to get worse.’”
