10-year-old Schuyler Munden was inspired to raise funds for the IRC's critical work with uprooted communities after watching a news segment on the plight of Syrian children. In just three weeks, Schuyler raised $1,150.
Sitting with her mother as they watched a news segment on the plight of Syrian children, 10-year-old Schuyler Munden broke into tears.
“Schuyler saw the sad faces of the children, who were living in dismal conditions at a refugee camp, where all you could see was tent after tent, and dust and dirt,” says Kristine Munden, Schuyler’s mother. “Schuyler said, ‘Mommy, I think I’m going to cry.’”
Kristine asked her daughter if crying would help these children. Schuyler, a junior Girl Scout, replied, “No. I want to do something. Right now.”
