A new survey carried out by the IRC has revealed that single Syrian refugee men struggle to access critical assistance and have been forgotten, overlooked by aid agencies.
When war erupted in Syria in 2011, Saddam* and 12 of his relatives fled his hometown, Homs, to neighboring Lebanon, where they have sheltered in a small tent in one of country’s poorest regions. Members of his extended family perform jobs, like picking olives for the owner of the land where they reside, in exchange for rent. Saddam rarely ventures outside, fearing of harassment at checkpoints throughout the north.
